- All human beings, by virtue of consciousness, are equal. An injustice to one of us is an injustice to all of us. I understand this principle deeply as a trans woman, having experienced marginalization, tokenization, and threats of violence many times. I will use these experiences to make sure no voice is left out of the conversation.
- Governments must serve their people passionately, making their lives better at every step. If they aren’t, they’re acting at the expense of the people they’re supposed to be representing. I will work relentlessly to improve your life through policy, advocacy, and community.
- Government must be responsive, accessible, and responsible. Governments must not only listen, but actively seek out community input. They should make politics easy to follow and understand. Lastly, they must be highly available to the people they are representing.
- The best available evidence must be used when making decisions, and the public must be consulted at every step along the way. Sometimes, what sounds like a good idea ends up a disaster. And, sometimes, something that might seem bad at first glance ends up being a very good idea. The only way to know is to measure, listen, and adjust.
